Shadow Work

Hi! And welcome.

My name is Lara. Before I met my twin, I had read about twin flames once and thought of it as a cute story, but just that, a story. After meeting my twin, it was a silly detail that I remembered that made me look up what was happening. Turns out, it’s not just a myth. I will not bore you with the rest of my personal twin flame story, but I would like to talk to you about what it means for you to meet your twin.

You’ve probably heard the stories about the dynamic and you probably want to be with your twin more than anything else in the world. I’ve been there. You’re willing to do anything, and that’s exactly what’s supposed to happen.

Controversial statement and something I didn’t want to hear half a year ago: you’re not on this journey to be with your twin. Sure, that might happen. Your soul chose this path to do some deep and thorough healing in one lifetime that would otherwise be impossible.

As humans, we don’t really like discomfort. We tend to run away from anything that makes us feel uneasy. A big part of who we are often makes us feel uneasy too. We ignore those parts, we reject them, and if we’ve been through hardship, we try to forget and just ‘move on’.

The twin flame dynamic uses this deep connection between you to get you to do your work. You really want them, and you believe that if you do your very best, you can get them.

So, instead of talking about how you relate to your twin, I would like to talk to you about how you can relate to yourself. Your twin shows you your wounds, but it’s up to you to then heal them. Focusing on yourself and who you are is HARD. It’s how running happens. It’s a refusal to look at whatever wound your twin brought to the surface, whether you do it consciously or not.

What happens, then, when we choose to look at ourselves, however hard it might be? We open up to so many possibilities. There’s endless strength in choosing to be vulnerable, especially with yourself. This is called ‘shadow work’. All the parts you hate to acknowledge in yourself, those are your shadows. Shadow work is integrating those shadows and loving them until you’re whole again and you know who you are completely. Shadow work is no longer rejecting what you dislike about yourself.

It’s forgiving yourself for what you may feel guilty for, it’s promising yourself that you aren’t broken, no matter how many labels people may put on you. It’s loving yourself through every moment, whether you feel happy or sad or stuck or angry. It’s all part of the earthly experience and it all has a right to be here. As do you. Shadow work is figuring out that you were always divine, as divinity is found within. It’s balancing yourself out and finding peace inside.

The one thing I found helped me to do this most, is promising myself I was going to be honest with myself. It helped me realise where I needed help and where I needed nurturing, care, and love. So if you do anything today: promise yourself honesty. You deserve it.

Talk to you soon,

Lara x
